Casino Royale & Hotel is a casino and motel
located on the Las Vegas Strip. The casino
caters to low rollers, and features low table
minimums for roulette, craps, and blackjack. The
casino often employs people handing out coupons
inviting people inside and seems to rely heavily
on street traffic for their business. The
parking lot behind Casino Royale is a little
known secret with some of the most convenient
and closest parking to the Las Vegas Strip.
Casino Royale is the only casino in Las Vegas
that has 100 times odds on craps at all times.
The minimum bet on Casino Royale's 100 times
odds craps tables is usually either three
dollars or five dollars.
Casino Royale, in addition to traditional
blackjack, also offers a version of blackjack
known as "Blackjack switch"
The first building on this
site was Frank Musso's Restaurant, located next
door to the Sands Hotel Casino. Musso's was in
business during the 1950s and 60's. Later it
became Joey's New Yorker Night Club, then the
Nob Hill Casino.
The Nob Hill which opened in 1978 was well known
as a lower limit and a fun place to play and
relax at a casino on the Strip in the 1980s. The
Nob Hill featured $0.25 craps, and $0.10
roulette with a minimum $5.00 buy in, which was
the lowest limit on the Las Vegas Strip.
In the late 1990s Casino Royale had highest odds
allowed in craps. The game was a 50 cent minimum
bet game, which allowed a player to place 100
times more in the odd bet. It was not uncommon
to see 50 cent bets with $25 to $50 odds bets.
This was when the rest of the Strip was allowed
double to 10 times odds. It was not uncommon for
players who had been losing at the larger nearby
casinos to walk in and play with their smaller
bank rolls to attempt to capitalize with the
odds.
Another interesting fact about the casino is
that is was one of the last to require drug test
for its employees. So many talented dealers
would deal there while their systems cleaned out
while applying at the larger casinos.
The Nob Hill closed in 1990.
On January 1, 1992 the casino reopened as the
Casino Royale. The adjacent Travelodge was
purchased and used for hotel rooms.
